Koi ponderings

In a koi pond,
it's an elaborate dreamscape.....

These golden swimmers careen around the cool waters

then colliding in bobbing motions....

Those of us from above

marvel and watch, eying
their artful and playful
positions.

Koi were developed from common carp in Japan in the 1820s, and are still very popular there as they are a symbol of love and friendship.

Koi have prominent barbels on the lip that are not visible in goldfish.

Most koi live to thirty-five, but there was one in Japan
who lived to two hundred and twenty-three years.

It strikes me that they quite enjoy the dance.....

There is so much chasing tail, that this restaurant advertises for it...ha!

Wing span across the sky...airborne and aloft.

Other posers....

these pelicans work together too - landlubbers then bound for the sky.
