Merrihews - Santa Monica

Dahlias are such vibrant flowers bursting with color. Merrihews is the most special gardener's oasis where you'll find a headspinning array of offerings. Now run by a very youthful team of enthusiasts with an eye for design and commerce. They have  recently built in a space filled with a coffee trailer and a chicken coop, surrounded by peaceful Buddha sculptures. It is hands down the spot to discover more beauty and unique selections than I've seen ever. And sidewalks spaces.are blooming too.

Writer's Strike WGA

The WGA - The Writer's Guild  is striking as of  May 2, 2023 for greater pay and more of a stake in the development of productions. The writers held out for 5 months in 2007 - 8.  This one may stretch on as long. With streaming and smaller windows/venues for the viewing public, the networks are dependent on lots of creative ideas. But for the writers,  there has not been a significant bump in salaries and job security commensurate with what they hope would be a living wage.

Below is a graph from the Writer's Guild which reflects how much of an impact the writer's ask would have on the overall Networks' budgets. It feels like a David v Goliath scenario, but stopping all productions does make executives anxious about their audiences' tolerance for this. Also it may allow the networks to cut and run from some outstanding agreements that were not going to be profitable in the long run.  Here's hoping this squeeze play gets the leverage the writer's want to get a pay increase. All TBD.

WeHo Out and About

Had a night out with a group in a swank West Hollywood restaurant, Le Sur. Interiors were vibrant and calming with serene statues around. It has been a long while since heading out to a restaurant without masking seemed possible.  Here's to that.

Angkor Wat Cambodia

Built between the 8th C - 12th C - with both Hindu and Buddhist influences. The towers were to be the resting place for kings.
Surrounded by a moat - to be impenetrable from foreign warring states.

Mythological stories of monkey warriors, hindu goddesses and kings protecting their land all carved in sandstone.

Leading to a floating bridge...
