Aaaah look at the pretty pumpkins

Got out to see the last of the pumpkins
today....

with zillions of kids

and other adorable
lil' creatures.

Of course,
how could you not see
that Wilbur
would race
and be super-imposed as
a running member
of the Elephant
party.

It will be nice
not to see so
many greased
pigs out there.

Verdant evening

Casting light within this deep forest
captures the vibrancy of the green.

The harsh light creates
an errily surreal
sanctuary.

The density
alone
feels
quite
potective,

but in truth
the lighting
is installed
to keep a
look out
for
spooks.

Scurrying in a hurry at the golden hour

Took a bike ride down by the seashore...a long hill down
and back up again makes for an invigorating ride and a visually spectacular view.

They call it 'the golden hour.'

Getting down there before sunset makes for a peaceful time of night....

the
bikers get in their last burst of effort before nightfall and the rest of the beach goers fold back in and take the long walk back to their cars.

A moment after sunset I saw the loons getting settled in their perches, fidgeting and cawing.

For all the exciteable kids being told
'we're leaving.' is never good news.

Upon hearing those words, a young boy at that moment just started running across the bridge out of there....and laughing with such glee.

Almost a like a thief in the night, he took off
and never looked back....roll into the evening
by himself.

Nice night for an adventure....

Those who might get out at night

Well, a week from Halloween and I know that Superman will be ready to bust outta this bookended situation...

He rests here...at
Mountain View Cemetary.

It has been suggested that
perhaps his ashes are not encased at
this spot, since with his super powers,

others might want a bit of 'em.

A Theatrical Walk through Time

Just to backtrack there are amazing things
to be seen at the cemetery.

This time last year I saw

re-impersonation
of jazz age silent screen actress Barbara
LaMarr buried at the Mountain View Cemetary
and Mauseleum.

Now comes another return to those long
gone and they will rise again....

More inspired scenes to come...

re LAX

Cool colors of the evening at the entry
of LAX....

Tall pillars which
change hues
nightly.

I like the way

they

blur...

There's safety with having your dog nearby

I work at a school and one of our students carries her stuffed 'doggie' everywhere she goes.

It doesn't matter
if she needs to use two hands for the loo, or return a volley,
her warm pie-faced cotton-soft mound of
plush pup stays with her. No questions please.

If we could have our guardians and stuffed mates around at all times, wouldn't we all be a bit more comforted and not so overwhelmed.

It begs the question whether something so
simple should fit into everyone's pocket
and reminded that 'Yup, it's ok.'

Salubrious day

Clear and mild for Los Angeles, just a good day spent at Descanso Gardens. Took my mother out there for some fresh air.....

Koi and weeping willows and pagodas.

Of course, she affectionately once said I might have been a weeping willow, but those days are long past. And she wouldn't remember the reference today, but I do.

Enchanting day to be out in this lovely oasis.

Light sources

Some lighting just is so compelling

some of it is time of day

some of it is canned
and juiced up

and other light is just for protection
but so jarring to our senses.

Undusted by Burning Man DeCompress

People who do Burning Man are passionate about
the experience.

I was close to going, but decided
it far better to
be aero-flotted in for a quick visit
and avoid the circuitous frenzy.

Lots of creative, heartily robust, ribald
and funky people congregate....

I just went to look minus the dust up.
