Whizzing by
When you work with kids...everything goes whizzing by....Kids don't amble, they motor to their destination.
Our last day at school involved sleeping bags, PJs and Polar Express beamed on the wall and an auditorium full of young learners. We turned the school into a cozy living room for the day.

Cooking lesson - UnCurry
Spent a few hours learning about Indian spices
via Kaumundi's UnCurry class held at Surfas
restaurant supply.
Fresh cumin seads, mustard seed - that you are supposed to suffuse in hot oil, then add aromatics - onions, ginger......then to the vege, or meat.
Our class made brussel sprouts, lentils with garlic and a fab yogurt-saffron dessert.
Who's not a fan of Indian fare.

Westside Foodbank
Our school volunteers in the community.
The Westside Foodbank serves food up to local pantries, homeless shelters and the like.
We loaded up fresh oranges into boxes for delivery - fruits and fresh vegetables are donated from local farms.
Funds come from Fema
and from local markets,
and from volunteers like us.
One kid noticed how genius the tinkering table looks
"Wow, look at this...someone is building something really cool."
building robots from metal scraps.
Along the way, someone picked up a lost $20 bill, and we laughed when we saw these words on the sidewalk.
Funny you know we just added to it.
Even the rain of the late afternoon didn't dampen the good or fun we had doing our community service.
